Cleo Cup

cleocup

http://www.cleoandco.com | https://cleocup.clickfunnels.com/sales-page

Country of origin: Australia? (manufactured in China?)
Composition: Medical Grade Silicone
Sizes: “1” (small), “2” (Large)
Dimensions: 1 = 43mm diameter, 73mm length without stem.  2 = 46mm diameter, 76mm length without stem
Capacity: Unknown
Measuring Lines: Yes
Cost (RRP): $46.39 / $41.95 USD [Currency Converter]
Been around since: 2015
Unique design?: No (There are other cups with similar design available)
Other Details: Website is registered in Australia, although the cups are being sold on Amazon in USD. This brand does not appear to be registered with the TGA or FDA (as of Sept 2016).  While the cup design is similar to existing cups, it does not appear to be a rebranding.  The cup design is very similar to Lunette, but with extra grip rings on the stem.

The RRP on their website is listed as $46.39 each, and on Amazon they are given a RRP of $41.95each – however the website gives a RRP of a set of 2 to be $30.95.

cleocup-sale

The FDA declaration is slightly misleading, as it implies the cup is FDA approved, when it isn’t.

Intimate Rose / Rose Cup

intimaterose

http://www.intimaterose.com

Country: China
Composition: Medical Grade Silicone
Sizes: Small & Large
Dimensions: Small: 40mm diameter, 58mm length excluding stem, 25mm stem.   Large: 45mm diameter, 60mm length excluding stem, 25mm stem.
Capacity: Small: 28ml (to rim?).  Large 28mls (to rim?)
Measuring Lines: Yes
Stem: Flat Tab
Cost (RRP): $24.99 USD  [Currency Converter]
Been around since: (Feb 2016?)
Unique Design: no (There are other cups with similar design available)
Other Details: Many of the Amazon reviews state that they received a discounted cup in exchange for leaving an Amazon review.  Box packaging is black (Unusual to see black used in the packaging, it’s a refreshing change!) .  Appears the large size cup comes in dark pink and the small size is clear.  Appears to be a rebranding of the tab stem cups (Aneer/iCare style) Claims on their website that they are FDA registered, but I was unable to find them in the device/establishment register here, unless they are registered under one of the listings that doesn’t include the brand name.

Country of origin: Brazil/USA
Composition:Hypoallergenic Silicone” (From Dow Corning, but doesn’t mention medical grade)
Sizes:  Small & Large
Dimensions:  Small = 40mm diameter. Large = 46mm diameter
Capacity: Small = 25ml.  Large = 28ml.
Stem: Long Flat Tab with hole
Measuring Lines: Unknown
Cost (RRP): R 97.90 (for 2) [Currency Converter]
Been around since: 2015 (The Brazillian FB page started 25th October 2015.  The .com website was registered July 2015)
Unique design?:Sort of (There are other cups with similar design available, although this design is different to the others)
Other Details:  The hole in the stem could perhaps be to thread a string through, for those who have a high cervix?   Some cups appear to be pale, some are vibrant.  It appears you get 1 pink and 1 purple in each pack.

These screenshots from Youtube Videos uploaded in November and December 2015 shows the cups as pale and as vibrant/dark colours.   The more recent video shows the darker colours, so they might have changed the silicone formulation between when they made the cups shown in the centre video (filmed sometime around Christmas, given the tree), and when they filmed the video that shows the cup mold?  Unfortunately I can’t translate what is being said in the videos, so the change in colour might be referenced in there.  The change in colour might be why they filmed that video.

fleurity-dark fleurity-light fleurity-light2

The darker cup colour video also shows the mold and silicone they use!

Older photos show older designs of the tab stem without hole, and a different shape stem.

Jasmine Cup

jasmine

Official website (jasminecup.com) has been unavailable for several years.  Seems to have only been available on places like ebay.

Country of origin: China?
Composition: Silicone
Sizes:  “1” (small), “2” (large)
Dimensions:  Some debate on the sizing, since the official measurements the company gave were not what users measured it at.
Capacity: unknown
Stem: Flat Tab
Measuring Lines: 7.5 and 15ml on the inside.
Been around since: 2012?
Unique Design?: No (There are other cups with similar designs available)
Other Details: According to the Live Journal post, ‘Jasmine Cup’ and ‘Made in Canada’ are written in small, raised letters on the inside rim.  This cup was reportedly like a cross between a Diva and a Lunette.  http://menstrual-cups.livejournal.com/3015476.html

Currently (Jan 2015) there is a listing on http://www.weiku.com for a cup they call a “W menstrual Cup” which shows the Jasmine Cup box with “Rockbrook” watermark – though says it comes in pink and shows one of the current generation pink generic boxed (iCare) menstrual cups.  That listing is by the Rockbrook company (who also produces the iCare cups as well as other cups and a softcup ripoff).  So I wonder if the old Jasmine Cups are being sold now as “iCare”?

The page often has trouble loading for me, so here’s a screenshot

Cup Brands with no details

There are a few “branded” (named) cups available, but who don’t give enough information for me to give them a page of their own. Some of the links to them may no longer be available when they sell out of that listing.  But you can always do a search based on the name.

So until I get more information on them, I’m putting them all here on the same page.  Please note that some of these cups appear to be suspiciously similar to other cups available.  See Similar/Rebranded Cups.

.

“Unique” and “Original” Brands
These brands are either the first or the only cups to feature their particular style features.

  • Carrefour (Fairly Unique Design -Wide flat tab, but opaque)
  • Smartcup (Unique Design – Long solid thick stem – different flower/butterfly/leaf designs on the side)

.

Suspected “Rebranded” and “Copied” Brands
These brands appear to have taken significant design elements from “original” brands (eg it would be difficult to tell them apart by looking at them), and/or have multiple other brands all sharing what appears to be the same design (eg they appear to be the same design given different brand names).

Similar or Rebranded Cups

Now… this isn’t intended to be any accusations of any brands doing the wrong thing.  This is just an observation that there are several cups that that look quite similar (if not exactly the same) to other cups.  So it is mentioned here with the intention to help clear up any confusion for consumers and provide as much information on cup brands as possible.

I would also like to make consumers aware of the possibility of many of these brands being a “rebranding” – where cups can be purchased for as little as 45c each, and then resold as the new brand name for $20-$30.  Click here to see my article on this.

For example here are some listings for the short stem cups that are popular at the moment.  One you can buy for $1.45 each (individually), the other as little as 50c each (in bulk):

blossom-care  ZhidaXintai_04a

Which appear to be the same design cups as these “branded” cups that retail at anything from about $10-$30

  blossomcup lola same_vidacup

.

There are also a lot of these tab stemmed cups on AliExpress for between 45c each (in bulk) or $1.55 individually…

aliexpresslisting_tab ZhidaXintai_04b

Which appear to be the same  basic design as brands like these (you can see the Luno and iCare even have similar box art)

luno_pink2 icarecolours gyncup

.

So in the interest of fairness and transparency – and to make sure people have the full information, I’m listing those cups that appear to have very similar (if not the same) design.  So you can make your own determination about which cups you may like to purchase.  For more information on the issue of Rebranding – see my article on that here.

There may be a few reasons that cups may look similar or identical to another brand.   These could be:

  • Re-branding – Where a business may be buying cups from the same supplier as other businesses do and package them with their own brand name.  In some cases they may have the packaging made for them as well (many of the AliExpress and Alibaba listings say they will provide packaging on request)
  • Sharing/Selling Designs – Where one cup business has sold or given the rights to reproduce their cup design, so that another business can sell the same cups with the original creators permission.
  • Copying/stealing designs – Where a business makes an copy (or perhaps a slight variation) of a brand of cup, without the permission of the original designer.

If you want to make sure you are getting a cup that is an “original” rather than a copy, look to see when the brand was established, and look to see how their overall website/business appearance is.  If you’re wanting a cheaper price, then I suggest shopping around – but making sure you look at the listings well to make sure you know what you are getting (cheaper isn’t always better).

Similar looking brands

This is a list of cup brands that have the same specific features and appear to be almost identical.  This is not meant to imply that any of these brands are “Copies” or “Rebrandings” – it is merely a comparison to highlight cups which appear to be the same shape and/or design – for research purposes.

(If you want a listing of all the known cup brands by stem type – look at the MASTER LIST here)

Diameter measurements (Small/Large) for the brands are also given when known, for easier comparison.  The slight (eg 1mm) difference between some brands that otherwise seem identical may be due to measuring errors or rounding up/down (eg a 41.5mm measurement may be rounded up or down by the brand/manufacturer), or may show the cup is actually a different size to another – I don’t know.

.

Short thin stems

Cups that feature short rounded “stick” stems, with rings around the base of the cup and rings around the “ridge” area.  Some brands have a smooth stem, some have a grip rings but look otherwise identical:

Cups that feature grid-like grip lines around the base of the cup with shorter thick stems that have grip rings:

aneer2b

aneer-grid avaloona3b evaboxed2happygirlcup

.

Narrow Flat Tab stems – “Shiny”

Cups with a tab stem that features 3 grip lines and have very “shiny” looking silicone.  Can be clear or opaque.   Often with a slightly bent stem:

tab-shiny

* different sources give different measurements for this cup brand.

.

Narrow Flat Tab stems – “Frosted”

Cups with a tab stem, usually 3 colours (clear, pink and a “purple” that is pretty much pink) and overall look very similar to each other. Have a more “frosted” or “Matt” appearance (though that may be just how they are photographed?), sometimes with a bent stem:

tab-frosted

.

Wide Flat Tab stems

Cups that have a flat wide-tabbed stem, sometimes with low profile ridge (usually only on the small size) and sometimes without.

cheapcup_15

Brands of cup that appear to be this same design:

Solid long thick stems

These cups resemble the Yuuki brand of cup

yuuki-copy3

Other stems

Eco-lybera

Spiral grip line on the stem, both made in Italy, with same measurements and are available in the same clear or pink colour.  I have heard that this is the same cup, just given different names when being sold online or in stores.

.

sibell

Cups that have a long “stick” stem with bumps on it

.

amulette

Cups that have a long “stick” stem with grip lines on it (unlike the “bumps” of the above cups)

.

anytime2

Cups that have a long thin stem, with “Flower” like grip design on the base

.

lilycup

Cups that are “collapsible” (being able to fold up into a compact form for storage).

The green cup listing didn’t have that logo, and is a different shaped cup, but used the “Cerene” name in the product title.

Listing #1 (green) – http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00MVRMUCQ
Listing #2 (blue) http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00R5AF89G

There is a review with photos on Amazon, which shows the cup they bought as the blue “Cerene” that was actually an iCare cup – which proves this “Cerene” / “Continuon” isn’t a brand of cup, but rather a rebranding of the iCare cups.

cerene_review

The Green cup listing lists “Cerene” as the seller.

cerene_listing_green

A couple of the articles mentioned the contact details for the woman behind the company “Cerene” (heartfeltdryerballs.com), which is a New Zealand business.

La Luna site – directing to the Mahina site  &  the Mahina site with a (hopefully accidental) line saying the cup is worn in the womb

(also, it’s a small quibble, but a 10 year lifespan of a cup I wouldn’t consider a “lifetime of freedom” – I’d personally want to hope my lifetime is looooong past that :P)

Un-named Menstrual Cup brands

There are HEAPS (seriously HEAPS!) of cheap cups available on AliExpress, ebay, Amazon and other such sites.

Most of them are listings for what appears to be the same cups. Most of them don’t have a brand name, so I can’t list them individually on my site, since I don’t have a name to reference them with…. and a lot of them don’t list the measurements either (not very helpful)….. So I am putting all the cups styles with no name in this post.

Links to these cups may disappear (particularly if they are amazon/aliexpress/ebay listings), but I’ll do my best to show what is available, and provide links to search those main sites for cups, so you can search for them yourself.

I’ve split my thoughts on cheap cups (safety and ethical concerns) to a separate post, so I could use this post to showcase the actual cups. See “Cheap Cups part 2” post for my 2c worth on the safety and ethical concerns with cheap cups.

If you’re wanting to find these cheap cups, try searching for “menstrual cup” in your cheap website of choice.  Such as:

 Unbranded Cup Examples

There are *MANY* more than this, but this gives you an idea of what styles are available.

.

Moon/Heart stemmed cups:

Unnamed #1Unnamed#2 | Unnamed #3
(Very cute!  Though sadly they aren’t practical as the heart/moon tends to irritate. So people often have to trim them off)

.

Tab stem cups:

 cheapcup_03 cheapcup_05 cheapcup_10 unnamed_01

Unnamed #1 | Unnamed #2 | Unnamed #3 | Unnamed #4

These are often the “Aneer” or “iCare” brand of cups, being sold with generic boxes (or no boxes) and no name.  Aneer/iCare tend to be the very shiny looking cups.  The opaque #4 cups are listed with measurements of  Small: 41/36/72 large: 46/38/74  (Could be Diameter/length of stem/length with stem?)

.

Other Shape/Design cups:

cheapcup_06 cheapcup_04

Unnamed | Unnamed

The first pic is the “Eva” style cup with a short thick stem and gridlike pattern on the base, the second has a wide-flat tab stem and is commonly sold in a “menstrual cup” box and with either a hot pink pouch (like the first pic), or the gold satin pouch.

.

Heart embossed cup

cheapcup_16 cheapcup_heart

Unnamed cup on Aliexpress by “Zhida Xintai” also on Amazon by “Anderson Global Trading”.   This one looks similar in design to the Yuuki cup (perhaps a narrower stem), and has a heart design on the side of the cup.  It also sometimes lists it as being made from Food-grade silicone not medical grade.  Measurements given are S=43mm diameter, 70mm length, 25ml capacity.
M=47mm diameter, 75mm length, 30mls capacity.

.

Collapsing/Folding menstrual Cup

collapse_cup_1

Basically the same idea (slightly different shape) to the Lily Compact.  Found on AliExpress.

.

Ring Pull Stem Cup

ringstemcup

Found on AliExpress – The listing says it’s food grade silicone

Small:  43mm diameter, 85mm length, 25mm stem.  Capacity:  15ml (airholes), 20mls to rim.

Large: 46mm diameter, 87mm length, 20mm stem.  Capacity:  15ml (airholes), 25mls to rim.

“Discharge” cup (assume valve-stem?)

unnamed_02

This cup design is weirdly interesting, although I don’t have a name for it, it deserved it’s own post here.  Find the cup for sale here.

iCare

icare

Couldn’t find an official site for these, just being sold online at places like AliExpress

Country of origin: China
Composition: Silicone
Sizes:  “1” (small), “2” (large)
Dimensions: Size 1 = 40mm diameter, 78mm long including stem, 58mm without stem.  Size 2 = 45mm diameter,  85mm long with stem, 60mm long without stem.
Capacity: Both 15mls to airholes and 28mls to rim
Stem: Flat Tab?
Measuring Lines: yes
Cost (RRP): Anywhere from about $5 USD+
Been around since: 2012
Unique Design?: No (There are other cups with similar designs available)
Other Details: Comes in Clear, Blue, Purple, Pink, Orange, Red, Green, White, Yellow and clear.  One of the AliExpress site selling them, has information in the listing referencing the product being called “LadyCup” and with the url http://www.ladycup.cn (which doesn’t exist).

Several of the AliExpress listings  have “Rockbrook Industrial CO” watermarked all over it, but their website (http://rockbrook.en.ec21.com) no longer works, and didn’t mention the cups when it was working.  I did however find another website for them – www.hygiener.com  Where they have a ripoff of an Insteads Softcup as well as a menstrual cup with a flat wide stem.

icarecolours  icarecolours

Interestingly, most of the more recent listings/photos of the iCare cups look like they are trying to hide what the stem looks like, and one photo I have seen that does show the stem, has a shorter stem

Aneer

aneer-340x340

There are various cups being sold with an “Aneer” box, so there isn’t really an “Aneer” brand of cup as such – Basically “Aneer” is a name on a box, and the cups sold with it can be one of many different designs.  So I’m wondering if either the “Aneer” boxes are being sold in bulk to anyone, or if the Aneer company are just many any old cup they feel like?

 .

Flat tab stem cups

The first “Aneer” brand cups were a tab stem cup, A Lunette-Diva sort of hybrid, with a very “shiny” look to the silicone.  Measurements are reportedly 43mm Diameter, 50mm length & 46mm Diameter , 50mm length.  Found on AliExpress. Youtube video on an unboxing. Seems to be the same as a bunch of other cups.

.

Short stick stem with lines around rim

aneer-femma1 aneer4

More frosted look, with a different ridge area with lines…. Several examples can be found on AliExpress, Another listing.  The same design of cup is also being sold as a Cup’ax, Dutchess, Blossom Cup and Charlene.  As well as Femma’s and Sure Cycle who still show the “Aneer” box despite calling the cup something else.

.

Thick Short tab stem with grid grip base

aneer2  aneer2c

Aneer box being shown with different cups again, that have a thicker stem with well defined grip lines on the base and stem.  Same design as Eva Cup.  Found on AliExpress.

.

 Flat Wide tab stem

aneer_widetab aneer-femmecup

There’s also a listing for an Aneer box with a wide tabbed stem cup photoshopped in, and a listing that shows what appears to be a Femmecup in one photo with an Aneer Box in another photo. Listing with wide stem | Listing showing Femmecup
