Sckoon knockoffs?

Browsing through AliExpress today, I discovered these cups.  While they have tried to disguise the stems, you can see the telltale flower design on the base of the cup.  They look to be copies of the Sckoon cup.

Since one of them shows it with a “femcup” box, and the “femcup” brand cup looks very similar to the other Chinese copies/rebrands, I wonder if it Femcup also a rebranded cup?

Similar or Rebranded Cups

This is a list of cup brands that have the same specific features and appear to be almost identical (it would be difficult to tell them apart if they were side by side). Because there are so many of these new cups available now, I have stopped listing these cups on separate pages and are listing them all here instead.

This is not an accusation that any of these brands are “Copies” or “Rebrandings” – it is merely a comparison to highlight cups which appear to be the same shape and/or design – for research purposes.  I would however like to make consumers aware of the possibility that many of these brands could be a “rebranding” – where cups can be purchased for as little as 45c each, and then resold as the new brand name for anything up to $20-$30.  Click here to see my article on “rebranding”

(If you want a listing of all the known cup brands by stem type – look at the MASTER LIST here)

Measurements (Small/Large) for the brands are also given when known, for easier comparison.  The slight (eg 1mm) difference between some brands that otherwise seem identical may be due to measuring errors or rounding up/down (eg a 41.5mm measurement may be rounded up or down by the brand/manufacturer), or may show the cup is actually a different size to another – I don’t know.

Valve Stem Cups – Bassrose style

The “Bassrose” design valve stem cups have a hollow stem that opens at the end, allowing the cup to be emptied while still in the vagina.  They use a ball inside to block the opening.  I refer to any other cups that have this same shape as a bassrose rebranding.

Valve Stem Cups – Aiwo style

Lunette copies?

I’ve seen some speculation that the Green Donna cup is essentially an exact copy of the Lunette, but being made cheaply in China.

greendonna

The Lunette company certainly thinks so, and made a statement to this fact in a menstrual cup community on Live Journal

“Hello all,

Although it’s not our policy to comment in different forums but this subject is too important for us not to comment 🙂

Some of you might already be aware of the situation with Lunette and Green Donna and the fact that Green Donna seems to be exact copy of our cup. It actually is our illegal Chinese copy and therefore we would like to know if you find out any information of the Green Donna, especially the places where it’s sold and who is selling them. The company behind Green Donna is violating our ipr-rights so this matter is really important for us. You can send an email to us to info@lunette.fi

Thanks a lot for your help!

Kind regards,
Heli from Lunette Finland office”

http://community.livejournal.com/menstrual_cups/2150799.html

Also, it seems MPower is also considered to be too similar to the Lunette, with Heli from Lunette posting this:

“Lunette was the first menstrual cup sold in South Africa and around year after we started to sell there, Mpowercup was launched. We knew that it was our cup that was the base for it and we have seen the designer even saying in the forums that “I actually copied the Lunette exactly so the size difference should be marginal”. We didn’t mind about that too much since South Africa wasn’t never a big market for us but now their cups were sold in the EU which is still our main market. Therefore we asked Teresa to stop selling them (as a importer her company is responsible for the product in the EU) because we (and our lawyers) believe that Mpowercup is violating our intellectual property rights such as our model protection.”
